I was given opportunities in Fashion because of my MTV success.....Lauren Conrad

Katie Couric interviews Lauren Conrad on the Oct. 15 episode of Katie.

The town is former reality star Lauren Conrad and her engagement to USC law student William Tell. But in a pre-proposal interview, which aired on Oct. 15 episode of Katie Couric's talk show, Katie, Conrad, 27, focused on another topic close to her heart, her work in fashion
The Hills star admitted that she wouldn't be where she is today without her MTV success, but revealed that working in fashion was a dream long before she appeared on TV.
"It definitely didn't happen over night," she said of her fashion career. "It was what I went to school for. It was sort of the path that I had been on for several years before I signed up to do a show. Ever since the third grade. I had been taking classes at a local art college all throughout high school."
And her work has paid off. The best-selling author has the line LC: Lauren Conrad in Kohl's and designs for the line Paper Crown. Conrad told Couric that her reality background "absolutely" gave some in the fashion world a bias towards her, but acknowledges that her TV background is partly responsible for her success.
"I was also given opportunities that I wouldn't have had otherwise, so you kind of take the good with the bad," she said. "I think that if you work hard enough, you're going to get there. For me it was sort of a challenge. I was like 'OK, people are going to say these things so I need to work extra hard to show them this is what I want to do and this is not a 15 minutes thing.' This is my career.
