Head turning hats for the season

Just in case you want to make a statement with head turning hats, Stephen Jone, Philip Treacy should be the names to consider. MILLINERY is having a moment in London. From Stephen Jones's Headonism collective, to Phillip Treacy's extravagant designs, headwear is more imaginative and more experimental than ever. And now there's a new name in town: Alexandra Harper.
Hailing originally from Queensland, Australia, Harper is already turning heads with her innovative use of studs, spikes, beads, loops, hand-made flowers, acrylic and feathers, and cites Elsa Schiaparelli, Jones and Treacy as her inspiration.
Luckily for us she has chosen our dynamic capital to show off her wares. "London is the millinery capital of the world, and simply the best city," said the milliner, who is currently preparing to open her new studio and shop in Islington. "In the UK hats are worn so much more than in other countries, and for a lot more occasions.  There's definitely a huge variety in styles of headwear and their wearers.  Hat wearers in the UK are absolutely not afraid to embrace something different and new."
