OSCAR de la Renta, I believe you all know him......... he is 1 of the people in the fashion industry that I admire his work so much, He had his show for the Spring/Summer 2014 and it was season with throngs of attendees traipsing in and out of his showroom on 11 West 42
nd Street for one of two shows; one sitting for press and buyers, and another for his esteemed customers and 'friends' of the house. No more. Well, putting up with all that commotion, it just isn’t chic is it? This time, he took it upon himself to stage one single show to a select group of 350 guests, be they friends, customers, press, buyers; everyone mingled together accordingly before being shown to their seats swiftly. It was reported that the show started promptly, as the invitation forewarned because being on time is good manners isn’t it?
What followed was knockout by anyone’s standards. From the sensational balloon-sleeved blouses in white lace and another in sheer black lattice (he called them "peasant" blouses but that just doesn’t do them justice), to white crochet dresses, and an outstanding parade of buoyant evening gowns and others that were tiered and meticulously edged in strings of pearls, it was an exquisite outing that regularly drew gasps.
The thing about Oscar de la Renta is that his appeal is so far reaching; it’s age-irrelevant. His audience was testament to the fact. His coiffured couture customers who sat front row dressed in colour and diamonds adored every look, just as much as his younger fans, such as Lauren Santo Domingo, and Miroslava Duma who sat just along from them. It was a fine juxtaposition and proof that a great dress has the power to pull on the heartstrings of every woman.
Take a look at few of the cloth showcased at the show and tell me you didn't fall in love... hehehehe
I just love this man's work.......................... beautiful beautiful and beautiful.
