THE Golden Globe
Awards took place for the first time in 1944, starting life as
an informal lunch recognising the year's best achievements in film.
Today, it's one of the biggest dates on the Hollywood calendar -
only outranked by the Oscars for
awards-ceremony scale and prestige - and honours not only the best
of the film industry, but television too. As with all modern-day
